01 Cover story

Every game starts in the hara.

Kurra is one town square for the Gulf’s ball-sport culture. Find a pitch, challenge a rival squad and settle the booking, without chasing it across five WhatsApp groups.

From the editors

The group-chat problem.

Ask anyone who plays on a Thursday night in Riyadh how the game got organised. There’s a group for the regulars, another for the pitch, and a third for whoever still owes money from last week. Someone asks if anyone has a keeper. Someone else sends a location pin for the wrong branch.

None of that is the game. It is the admin around the game, and it lives in places that were never built for it.

Kurra gathers it into one square: the courts, the squads, the rivalries and the bookings. Open it and you see who is playing tonight, where there is a free slot, and which squad is looking for a challenger.

“One place for the game. Not five group chats.”

From the Kurra brief

The Challenge · the core loop

How a rivalry gets booked.

The heart of Kurra is the challenge. A squad posts that it is looking for a challenger. Your captain answers with your squad. From there, the logistics happen in one room, not ten threads.

  1. 01

    Example

    Looking for challenger

    Falcons FC

    5-a-side · Thu · 21:00

    The post

A squad signals that it is looking for a challenger, with the sport, the format and a rough time.

  2. 02

    Example

    Jeddah United Falcons FC

    Challenge sent

    The challenge

Your captain challenges with your squad. One tap, and the rivalry is on the record.

  3. 03

    Example

    Match Room

    • Time agreed
    • Pitch agreed
    • Location pin dropped
    • Split payment 250 ÷ 10 = 25 SAR

    The Match Room

A room opens for both captains: chat, agree the time and the pitch, drop the location pin, split the payment.

  4. 04

    Example

    Falcons FC4–3Jeddah United

    Confirmed by both captains

    The result

Both captains report the score. If they disagree, it goes to dispute resolution. The leaderboard settles the rest.
